General information
Rythmol is an anti-arrhythmic medication aimed to treat a range of diseases related to rapid heartbeats such as atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. It works by slowing the influx of sodium ions into the cardiac muscle cells, causing a decrease in excitability of the cells.
Directions
You need to consult a doctor regarding the appropriate dosage intake. Do not give up taking the medicine unless it is permitted by your doctor. Administer the intake orally with a full glass of water. It should be taken concurrently with food, as it improves the absorption of this medicine and reduces a risk of stomach hurt.
Precautions
Notify your doctor of any other medications that you might be taking besides this one. Taking this drug with a certain class of other medicines may result in increasing or decreasing the effects or alter them in either drug. Tell your doctor if you experience kidney or liver problems and myasthenia gravis. Avoid consuming grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice during the treatment with this product.
Contraindications
This medication is not used in cases of renal impairment, hepatitis, cirrhosis, allergy to danazol, porphyria, cardiac insifficnecy, congestive heart failure, excessive vaginal discharge. Consult your doctor before taking, in case you are pregnant, plan to be pregnant or breastfeeding as this medicine can cause harm to a fetus and excrete into the breast milk. Breastfeeding should be stopped by a mother receiving this medicine.
Possible side effect
You have to immediately notify your health care professional if you suffer from any bothersome symptoms such as allergic reactions involving rash; hives; difficulty breathing; inching; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, eyelids; dizziness; lightheadedness; blurred vision; dryness of mouth; blue-colored lips, fingernails, or palms; fainting; palpitations; high fever; nausea; stomach pain; watery or bloody diarrhea; emesis; muscle and joints pain; loss of appetite; chills. This is not a complete list of all possible side effects. Others may occur in some patients and there may be some side effects not known yet. In case you have experienced any side effects not listed above, immediately seek emergency medical attention.
Drug interactions
You must notify your health care practitioner if you are already taking antiarrhythmics (amiodarone, quinidine), macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin), phenothiazines (thioridazine), pimozide, quinolone antibiotics (ciprofloxacin), serotonin receptor antagonist antiemetics (dolasetron), antidepressants (imipramine), or ziprasidone, antifungals (ketoconazole), cimetidine, HIV protease inhibitors (ritonavir), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (fluoxetine), serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (duloxetine), or venlafaxine, anticoagulants (warfarin), beta-blockers (propranolol), digoxin, haloperidol, lidocaine.
Missed dose
In case you have missed to take a dose of this medicinal product, take it as soon as possible. If you are already supposed to take your next dose, do not take the dose you forgot and keep your ordinary dosage schedule. Do not take two dosages right away.
Overdose
If you think you overdosed the medicine, immediately contact your local poison center and notify your doctor or pharmacist. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning. You may need urgent medical attention. Symptoms of overdose involve a feeling of being dizzy, light-headed, syncope, a metallic taste, palpitations, convulsions, fatigue, and decreased sexual drive.
Storage
Store this product at room temperature between 25 degrees C (77 F) away of sources of sunlight, heat and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Keep this product out of the reach of children and pets. Do not apply any remnants of the medication after the expiry date.
