General information

Fludac is a drug that prolongs the action of serotonin in the brain. It helps to constrict the blood vessels; moreover it also acts as a neurotransmitter. It is used as a potent antidepressant and considered effective in alleviating depression. It is also aimed to treat obsessive-compulsive neurosis, bulimia nervosa, premenstrual psychological disorders (dysphoria).

Directions

A regular dose of this drug is 1 pill taken 1or 2 times per day. If you want to reach best results, you need to take Fludac for a prolonged time period. Before you feel relived from depressive symptoms it may pass 4 weeks. However if you take this drug for 3 months successively, the effect is supposed to last for 9 months approximately. For the obsessive compulsive disorder treatment, you need to take this medicine for 5 weeks to get best results.

Precautions

You must consult your doctor and tell him all your medical history, especially if you have ever suffered from repeated epileptic fits, or if you have any allergy. This drug may impair your alertness and reactions, so you must avoid doing anything that requires you to be alert or attentive (f. e. driving). Fludac taking can result in giddiness and a feeling of somnolence.

Contraindications

The less common side effects are abnormal taste, agitation, bleeding, chills, ear pain, mental state confusion, fever, frequent urination, hypertension, increased appetite, memory loss, palpitations, ringing in the ears, sleep disorders, weight gain. In children and adolescents, less common side effects can result in agitation, excessive menstrual bleeding, frequent urination, mania or hypomania (elation and hyperactivity).

Missed dose

If you have missed your dose, take it as soon as possible. If you see it is near the time for the next dose intake, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. Avoid taking two dosages at once.

Storage

This medicine is stored at 68 –77 °F (20 –25 °C) away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep it away from the reach of children and pets. Do not use if after the expiry date is over.
